Posted October 8th, 2023

We are excited to share news about the MURUA Moms™ program developed by Dr. Bravada G-A, Clinical Psychologist at the African American Child Wellness Institute. Please share this widely within your networks.

The goal of Murua Moms is to promote wellness & improve birth outcomes for pregnant African American birthing people. Murua Moms is a free program for pregnant people that provides free classes on lactation, having a healthy baby, mental health services, and other important topics. At the end of the 8-week program there will be a community-wide baby shower for the mothers and babies. There will be post natal therapy for those with postpartum depression. Birthing people with substance use issues are welcomed.

At ÀBĪYÈ Collective, we believe that #PFML is essential. Similar public investment programs have been proven to increase health outcomes during the perinatal journey for birth parents and children by reducing stress linked to birth complications, decreasing #infantmortality rates, increasing #breastfeeding & #chestfeeding rates, and promoting secure attachment.
